Usng ISE

You have to pay to use the sports hall, in order to join us on the badminton court! We do not have anything to do with that transaction. There are various schemes of payment available, details of which can be found on this ISE Membership web page link, (though it can be easier to just go in and ask).)

We play with feather shuttles. A player will volunteer to supply the shuttles for both courts for the whole match and collect £1 from each person. Please remember to bring £1 with you for the game. The correct money would be greatly appreciated (ie. no £50 notes!).

We always require people to supply the shuttles. You can buy 12 shuttles from Sean for £13.50, or find your own source. The finances should work something like this... approximately 3 shuttles are used in a game of doubles playing for 1 hour. This means a tube of shuttles should return £16 (taking into account the owners £1 contribution).

Racquets

Racquets are available for hire at the ISE (Sports Centre).

Playing Standard

There is a wide range of playing standards. Some in the group play in the Dundee Division 2 leagues and some are just picking up the racquet again. The games are competitive, but not too serious.

Beginners and Starting Again

We hope to encourage newcomers. However, complete novices who lacking any racquet sport skills are best advised to play with some friends who play first, to see how they take to the sport. If you regularly play tennis or squash, you will be fine, after some adjustments. Those who played at school or years ago will also be fine.

Social Events

We normally organise a post-christmas event which comprises a visit to the Scottish National Badminton Championships in Perth during the first weekend of February followed by a meal and drinks.
